Understanding the Waves ecosystem

Waves supports token issuance, smart assets and applications written using its Ride environment. WAVES is the network’s native asset; issued tokens can have their own issuers and behavior. A shared network does not make their backing, liquidity or holder rights equivalent.

How it works

Smart-asset scripts can affect which transactions are allowed, while issuer configuration can influence supply. Some tokens represent external assets or depend on gateways, introducing additional counterparties. Confirm the asset identifier and read its current controls before treating a familiar ticker as interchangeable with the original asset.
