Understanding Bybit before you buy

Bybit’s account structure matters as much as its asset list. Deposits and withdrawals use the Funding Account, while spot trading takes place in the Unified Trading Account. Knowing where your balance sits makes the purchase process easier to follow.

Why consider this exchange?

Consider Bybit when you want spot trading within its unified account workflow and your required pair, funding method and withdrawal network are supported in your region.

When to compare alternatives

Compare alternatives if you prefer a simpler account structure or the services offered locally differ from those described on the global platform. Check transferable balances before planning a withdrawal.

From funding to your first spot purchase

Deposit into Funding, transfer the amount needed to the Unified Trading Account and select Spot. Before withdrawing, confirm available funds and transfer back to Funding as required. Open orders or collateral use can affect transferability.

  1. Funding Account
  2. Transfer to Unified
  3. Place a spot order
  4. Check withdrawal balance

A market price is not a price guarantee

Imagine buying 100 tokens from this small order book. The cheapest seller cannot fill the whole order. This is why liquidity matters more than the last traded price.

Example sell orders
PriceTokensCost
$1.0040$40
$1.0560$63
Total100$103

Illustrative USD amounts, before fees; not live market data.

Market order: $103

Buying all 100 tokens consumes both price levels: 40 × $1.00 + 60 × $1.05. The average is $1.03, even though the best displayed ask was $1.00.

Limit order at $1.00: only 40 fill

A buy limit caps the unit price, not the waiting time. With these sell orders unchanged, the other 60 tokens remain unfilled. A limit order that immediately matches existing orders can still incur taker fees.

Compare the complete cost

For a hypothetical $200 purchase, separate the trading fee from the price you receive and the cost of moving your crypto.

$0.200.10% trading fee
$2.001% execution cost
$2.00Withdrawal fee
$4.20Extra cost

These are example assumptions, not this exchange’s rates. The $4.20 excludes funding and currency-conversion charges. Check your account’s actual fee tier, the order preview and the withdrawal quote; promotions and minimums can change the result.

Buying the right token is only half the journey

  1. Confirm the token
  2. Match the network
  3. Check address and memo
  4. Review, then send

Open the receiving wallet’s deposit instructions first. Both sides must support the same token on the same network; a matching ticker or address format is not enough. Include a memo or destination tag when required. Check minimums and fees before a small test transfer, then verify receipt before sending more.

Exchange balance or your own wallet?

An exchange controls the keys to assets held in your account. A self-custody wallet gives you control and responsibility for the recovery phrase. Choose deliberately: withdrawal availability, backup practices and the amount kept ready for trading all matter.

Check country eligibility, identity requirements and current product availability before registering. Listings do not guarantee an active pair or an available withdrawal network. Official help and rules ↗
