Understanding the Solana ecosystem

Browse the buying guides

Solana supports applications and tokens through its own account and program model. SOL is the native asset, while other fungible tokens are identified by their mint addresses. A token’s name and image are metadata and can be copied by an unrelated issuer.

How it works

Token programs can support different features, including authorities that mint additional supply or freeze accounts. Extensions can change how a token behaves. An ecosystem listing says where a project operates, not that Solana has approved it. Examine the exact mint, active authorities and the market where you plan to trade.
