What are tokenized securities and market exposures?

Browse the buying guides

This category covers tokens linked to securities or securities-like exposures, including stocks, funds, bonds and private credit. The legal structure is decisive. One product may represent a beneficial interest in assets held by a custodian; another may provide a contractual or synthetic price exposure. Similar names and prices do not establish equivalent ownership rights.

How it works

Transferability on a blockchain does not remove securities rules, investor eligibility checks or restrictions in the underlying product. Dividends, voting, corporate actions and redemption may be handled differently from a conventional brokerage holding. A token can trade around the clock while its underlying market is closed, producing price gaps and limited hedging. Credit products also depend on borrower performance and enforcement. Read issuer documents and custody arrangements before comparing a quoted yield or discount.
