Gate vs Bybit (2026): Fees, Spot Trading and Crypto Access Compared

At the standard spot rate, Gate and Bybit charge the same commission. A useful decision therefore starts with the asset you need, the platform available in your country and the way you want to manage the purchase.

Gate vs Bybit exchange comparison with two platforms, a comparison checklist and a wallet

We may earn a commission through exchange links. This comparison explains trade-offs; it is not a recommendation to buy a cryptocurrency. Offers and access depend on your location and account.

Which exchange fits your needs?

Consider Gate when its available catalogue and withdrawal routes match a specific asset search. Consider Bybit when you want spot trading within its Unified Trading Account and understand the account controls. Compare special-market fees and the actual deposit route before treating their equal standard commission as equal total cost.

Gate

Consider it when

You want to compare a token’s Gate spot market with another venue and can use its available funding and withdrawal routes. Its standard VIP 0 maker and taker rates are equal, so a limit order’s value is price control rather than an automatic fee saving.

Check first

Check which Gate entity serves you. A regional site can have a different catalogue and payment options from the global site. A large global list of tokens does not establish what your account can trade.

Bybit

Consider it when

You want spot trading within Bybit’s Unified Trading Account and understand how that account relates to its funding balance and other products. Standard crypto-to-crypto VIP 0 maker and taker rates are equal.

Check first

Bybit’s ordinary spot rate is not universal: Adventure Zone and xStocks have a separate fee schedule, and fiat pairs can differ too. Unified-account margin features also require care if you only intend an unleveraged purchase.

You plan to keep the workflow simple

List only the steps your purchase needs: fund, buy spot and withdraw. On Bybit, check whether funds need moving between Funding and Unified Trading accounts. On Gate, use the spot market and funding options available to your entity. If either route pushes you into an unfamiliar product or unsupported network, stop and reassess. A 500 USDT standard taker order costs 0.50 USDT on either side, so unnecessary complexity earns no commission saving here.

Choose on verified access and a manageable complete route. If you later need margin, futures or other advanced products, make a separate comparison of their costs and risks instead of extending a spot verdict to them.

What does a 500 USDT spot trade cost?

The comparison below uses an executed order worth 500 USDT, a standard retail account and no VIP tier, referral rebate, token-payment discount or temporary promotion. It compares trading commission only. USDT is the quote asset, not a bank deposit or a guaranteed dollar balance.

Gate

Maker rate0.10%
Taker rate0.10%
500 USDT maker order0.50 USDT
500 USDT taker order0.50 USDT

Spot fees and exceptions

These are reference rates, not a quote for every market. A limit order that immediately matches an existing order can be charged as taker. Check the pair, trading zone and your account fee before confirming; the fee may be deducted from the asset received.

Follow the money from deposit to wallet

1. Fund the account

With a card or bank purchase, compare the amount of crypto you actually receive for the same amount of local currency. A low advertised trading fee does not include a payment provider’s charge, currency conversion or a buy-quote spread. A crypto deposit can still cost a sending fee at the originating wallet or exchange.

2. Execute the trade

Use the same trading pair, order size and timestamp. Compare the quoted price and available order-book depth as well as commission. A market order can consume several price levels; a limit order caps your buy price but may fill partially or not at all.

3. Withdraw to your wallet

Compare the withdrawal fee, minimum withdrawal and supported network for the exact asset. Confirm that your destination supports that network and any required memo. A cheaper network is useful only if the destination accepts it. Network maintenance can temporarily prevent a withdrawal.

A small fee advantage can disappear

Illustrative example, not live exchange quotes: route A costs 0.25 USDT to trade and 3 USDT to withdraw; route B costs 0.50 USDT to trade and 1 USDT to withdraw. With identical funding and execution prices, A costs 3.25 USDT and B costs 1.50 USDT. B is 1.75 USDT cheaper overall despite its higher trading commission.

Compare the final amount reaching the same wallet on the same network. If the price or funding method differs, add that difference before deciding.

One purchase, two practical routes

These illustrated steps explain the workflow rather than reproduce a live account screen. Menu labels and available products can differ by region and app version. Stop if identity verification, the asset or the withdrawal route is unavailable.

Confirm access and asset

Gate

Choose the Gate platform available to your residence and verify the exact asset under Spot, including the supported withdrawal networks.

Bybit

Confirm regional eligibility and the exact spot asset. Check whether the pair belongs to a special fee zone.

Fund the correct balance

Gate

Use your account’s deposit or purchase options. If sending crypto, confirm the coin, network, address and any memo before transferring.

Bybit

Deposit or purchase through the available funding route, then check the balance available in the Unified Trading Account for spot trading.

Review and place a spot order

Gate

Open the spot pair and compare the order book with your target price. Use market only if the likely execution price is acceptable; otherwise set a limit.

Bybit

Select Spot and review the order ticket, fee and any borrowing settings. Use a limit price when controlling execution matters more than immediate completion.

Check the withdrawal route

Use the asset’s deposit details in your own wallet to confirm the network and address. Review the exchange’s fee and net amount; use a small test transfer when appropriate. Never enter a seed phrase into an exchange form.

Trading features, funding and custody

Spot buying is the focus here. Futures, margin and leveraged products add borrowing, liquidation or funding risks and are not substitutes for owning a withdrawable spot asset. An exchange can list a derivatives contract without offering that token for spot purchase.

Gate

Gate separates spot markets from margin, futures and other products. For smaller assets, confirm the exact token and pair rather than relying on a search result or total listing count. Assess depth at your intended order size and whether the token can leave the exchange on your required network.

Start with the deposit or Buy Crypto options available to your verified account. Compare any bank, card or provider quote against a crypto transfer, including conversion and withdrawal costs at the sending venue.

Funding and trading instructions

Bybit

Bybit’s Unified Trading Account brings spot and other trading products together. This can simplify transfers between supported activities, but collateral, borrowing and margin settings matter. A beginner buying a token should confirm the spot market and avoid enabling borrowing unintentionally.

Bybit distinguishes a Funding Account for deposits and withdrawals from its Unified Trading Account for trading. Check whether an internal transfer is needed. Card and other purchase quotes depend on method, currency, provider and region.

What neither exchange changes

On a custodial exchange, the platform controls the private keys. A balance can be affected by withdrawal restrictions, account reviews, operational failures or insolvency. Proof-of-reserves information is useful evidence to examine, but it is not deposit insurance or a guarantee of solvency. Self-custody removes exchange custody only after a successful withdrawal and gives you responsibility for backups and transaction mistakes.

Your country can change the answer

Check the legal entity serving your residence before depositing. A global brand, a regional platform and a local partner may have different assets, fees, payment methods and products. This article’s language does not determine eligibility. Do not use a VPN or false residence details to evade restrictions.

Gate

Gate’s user agreement and regional licensing information govern access. The global and regional platforms are not interchangeable; confirm your account’s entity and product eligibility rather than assuming a licence covers every service worldwide.

Eligibility and regional restrictions

Bybit

Bybit’s global restricted-country list includes the US and Canada, among others. Regional services have their own terms. Check the service that would hold your account and the products it offers to your residence.

Questions that change the decision

Is the lower trading fee always cheaper?

No. For a small purchase, a card charge or fixed withdrawal fee can exceed the trading commission. For an illiquid token, execution price can matter more. Compare one complete route using the same asset, amount and destination.

Does a listing mean I can withdraw the token?

Not necessarily. Confirm that it is a spot listing for the correct token, then check the live withdrawal status and supported network. A ticker alone is not enough to establish token identity.

Should a signup bonus decide the choice?

Treat a bonus as conditional. Eligibility, deposits, trading volume, deadlines and reward type can change its value. Read the current offer terms and avoid trading more than planned to unlock a reward.

How we made this comparison

We checked the exchanges’ public fee schedules, help guides and access terms on the date above. Cost calculations are our own worked examples. We have not executed identical live trades or measured customer-support response times for this comparison. We avoid a universal winner because the relevant pair, country, funding method and withdrawal route can change the result.

A little groundwork goes a long way

Before your next purchase or transfer, understand who controls access, where your crypto is going and what the trade will actually cost.

Protect access to your crypto

An exchange account and a self-custody wallet need different safeguards. Protect exchange logins with a unique password and strong two-factor authentication. For self-custody, your recovery backup is what lets you restore access.

Keep recovery words offline and private. A support agent or website asking for them is a reason to stop.

See a recovery example

Your phone breaks. An exchange may help you recover your account after identity checks. A self-custody wallet cannot reset your recovery phrase. Check your wallet’s official backup instructions before relying on it.

Choose the right transfer network

The asset, token version and network must be supported at the destination. A familiar ticker or a matching address format is not enough. Read the receiving platform’s deposit instructions before selecting a withdrawal network.

Check the address, any required memo or tag, fees and minimums. Consider a small test transfer first.

See a network example

Your destination accepts USDC on Ethereum. Selecting a cheaper network at the sending exchange does not make it an Ethereum transfer. Use a network both ends support; an ordinary withdrawal does not bridge tokens.

Understand the price you pay

Trading fees are only part of the cost. The spread, available liquidity and withdrawal charges also matter. A market order prioritizes execution; a limit order controls the price but may remain unfilled or fill only partly.

Check the order preview and the amount you will receive, then compare the full cost of your intended purchase and withdrawal.

Work through a cost example

Hypothetical example: a $200 trade with a 0.1% trading fee costs $0.20 in trading fees. A separate $5 withdrawal fee brings those charges to $5.20. Spread or slippage may add more; these are not quoted exchange rates.
